Virtual Power Plant
Velocity Energy’s Virtual Power Plant of standby generators supports the energy transition by supplying flexible, responsive and reliable reserve capacity to increase the energy available during peak times. As our VPP uses existing standby generators to help keep the energy grid reliable, it avoids the need for investment in new infrastructure as we transition to renewable energy. By offering flexible reserve capacity to the energy markets, the asset owners of the generators receive an income for their participation.
Daytime EV Charging
Through sister company Flex Charge, we are working to support a shift in electric vehicle charging from nighttime to daytime to take the pressure off the energy grid at peak times. The growth of electric vehicles (EVs) is rapidly increasing, and EVs have the potential to double the electricity demand of residential properties, which will put additional pressure on the energy network. Flex Charge’s flexible Daytime EV Managed Charging Network shifts nighttime charging to daytime, enabling the grid to take advantage of underutilised renewal solar and wind generation.
